US sends 15-point peace plan to Iran amid troop deployment reports

Daijiworld Media Network - Washington

Washington, Mar 25: The United States has reportedly sent a 15-point proposal to Iran aimed at ending the ongoing conflict, even as Washington moves to strengthen its military presence in the region.

According to reports details of the proposed plan remain undisclosed, though it is seen as a step towards de-escalation.

The development comes alongside reports that the Pentagon is preparing to deploy thousands of troops from the elite 82nd Airborne Division to the Middle East, adding to an already significant US military presence that includes Marines, naval forces and an amphibious assault ship.

US President Donald Trump said Washington is engaged in “very good and productive” discussions that could lead to a “complete and total resolution” of hostilities in the region. However, Iran has denied that any negotiations are currently taking place.

The conflict, launched on February 28 by the US in coordination with Israel, has led to heavy casualties on both sides and heightened regional instability. The campaign has targeted Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programmes.

In response, Iran has effectively shut down the vital Strait of Hormuz, disrupting global oil shipments and triggering volatility in international energy markets.

While diplomatic efforts appear to be underway, the parallel military build-up signals continued uncertainty over the prospects for a swift resolution.
