Dumka, Mar 26: Tension spread across Dumka on Thursday after a madrasa teacher was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a hotel room within the Nagar Police Station limits.

The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Sadiq Hussain Ansari, a resident of Sakrikitta Rampur under Boarijor Police Station in the neighbouring Godda district, where he was employed as a madrasa teacher.

According to officials, Ansari had checked into a hotel near Dudhani Tower Chowk with a woman. Hotel staff discovered him unconscious on Thursday morning and alerted the police. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead. His body has been sent to Phulo Jhano Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Preliminary inquiries indicate that Ansari and the woman were in a personal relationship. She was present in the room at the time of the incident and has been taken into custody for questioning. In her statement, she claimed that Ansari’s health deteriorated suddenly after returning to the hotel following a meal. Believing he had merely fallen asleep, she initially did not raise the alarm, but contacted hotel staff when he remained motionless for a prolonged period.

Police are investigating all possibilities, including natural causes and foul play. CCTV footage from the hotel is being examined, and the deceased’s family has been informed. Authorities have stated that the exact cause of death will be confirmed only after the post-mortem report is received. Investigators are also looking into the reason for the woman’s visit to Dumka.
