Udupi: Man attempting suicide rescued, reunited with family

Udupi, Mar 28: A 45-year-old man from Karwar, who had attempted to jump into a pond ten days ago due to mental distress, has been safely traced and handed over to his family.

The man, identified as Ramachandra, was rescued by social worker Vishu Shetty from Ambalpadi, who admitted him for treatment. Information provided by a person responding to the treatment helped authorities locate his family.

Ramachandra had caused panic in Puttur, Udupi, due to his erratic behavior linked to mental health issues and had attempted to jump into a pond. Following his treatment at the hospital, his family traveled from Karwar and took him home.

The operation was coordinated with the support of district hospital psychiatrist Dr. Vasudev, ICRC official Suresh, and local police.
