Miami, Mar 28: Donald Trump has sparked fresh geopolitical concerns by stating that “Cuba is next” during a speech at an investment forum in Miami, even as tensions remain high over the ongoing Iran conflict.
Referring to the strength of the US military, Trump said, “Sometimes you have to use it… and Cuba is next,” before quickly adding, “pretend I didn’t say that.” However, he did not specify what action he intends to take regarding Cuba.

Trump has repeatedly claimed that the Cuban government is nearing collapse amid a severe economic crisis. His administration has also initiated discussions with sections of Cuba’s leadership in recent weeks, even as he earlier hinted at the possibility of a “friendly takeover.”
Miguel Díaz-Canel has acknowledged that talks are underway with the United States in an effort to avoid potential confrontation. Cuba is currently facing economic hardship, worsened by disruptions in oil supplies following political changes in Venezuela, which had long supported the island’s energy needs.
Trump’s remarks come at a time of heightened global tensions linked to the Iran conflict, raising concerns among observers about possible escalation involving Cuba.
