Udupi, Mar 28: Dr TMA Pai Hospital, Udupi is commemorating World Health Day, observed on April 7, by launching its annual preventive healthcare initiative offering special discounted health check-up packages throughout the month of April 2026. Now in its fourth consecutive year, this initiative reflects the hospital’s continued commitment to promoting preventive healthcare and early detection of diseases within the community.
As part of the programme, the hospital has introduced a range of comprehensive health check packages at concessional rates, tailored to encourage individuals to proactively monitor their health. The initiative has seen strong community participation in previous years, with over hundreds of preventive health check packages availed by citizens across Udupi district in April 2025, highlighting increasing awareness and responsibility toward personal health.
Aligned with this year’s World Health Day theme, “Together for Health. Stand with science”, the packages are designed to meet the needs of various age groups. The screenings aim at early identification of common yet serious health conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, kidney and liver disorders, and certain cancers—ensuring timely intervention and better treatment outcomes.
Dr Shashikiran Umakanth, medical superintendent of the hospital, emphasized the importance of preventive care: “In today’s fast-paced lifestyle, many health conditions go unnoticed until they develop into serious complications. Regular health check-ups are essential for early detection, timely treatment, and improved quality of life. Through this initiative, we encourage individuals to take a proactive approach toward their health and well-being.”
In addition to diagnostic services, the packages also include guidance on adult immunization—an often-overlooked aspect of healthcare. Vaccinations for influenza, pneumonia, hepatitis, and tetanus remain crucial, especially for senior citizens and individuals with existing health conditions.
