Mangaluru: Workshop on ‘Nutrition Life Cycle’ held at Yenepoya College

Mangaluru, Mar 28: The department of nutrition & dietetics, Yenepoya Naturopathy & Yogic Science College & Hospital, a constituent unit of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), successfully organized a workshop on 'Nutrition Life Cycle' on March 27, at the Seminar Hall, YPRC. The programme was inaugurated in the presence of the chief guest, Dr Mohammed Gulzar Ahmed, principal, YPCRC, and presided over by Dr Puneeth Raghavendra, principal, YNYSCH.

The workshop aimed to provide practical insights into nutritional needs across different stages of life and promote evidence-based approaches in diet assessment and planning.

The technical sessions were delivered by eminent resource persons: Dr Daniella, professor & head, department of food science and nutrition, St Aloysius College, Mangaluru, who spoke on 'Nutrition across the life cycle: Practical approaches to nutritional assessment'. Rohini Bhadra, senior research nutritionist, St John’s Medical College & Research Institute, Bengaluru, who conducted a hands-on session on 'Diet assessment and meal planning'. Dr Sreeshyam K S, senior resident, department of community medicine, Father Muller Medical College, Mangaluru, who delivered a session on 'Community-based strategies for life cycle nutrition: Interventions and case studies'.

Around 150 delegates from various colleges actively participated in the workshop and benefited from the sessions. The participants included undergraduate and postgraduate students, faculty members, nutritionists, dieticians, and healthcare professionals. The event was successfully coordinated by the organizing committee comprising Dr Ajith K, assistant professor cum dietician, and Dr Sunitha, assistant professor.

The event concluded with a valedictory session, highlighting the importance of integrating nutritional practices into community health for overall well-being.
