Golf Star Tiger Woods arrested for DUI after crash in Florida

Florida, Mar 28: Golf legend Tiger Woods was arrested on Friday after being involved in a rollover crash in Jupiter Island, authorities confirmed.

According to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred shortly before 2 pm when Woods, driving a Land Rover, allegedly collided with a truck pulling a trailer on a two-lane road. Officials said Woods appeared to be travelling at high speed and attempted to overtake the truck before clipping the trailer, causing his vehicle to overturn onto the driver’s side.

Despite the severity of the crash, neither Woods nor the truck driver sustained injuries. Woods reportedly exited the vehicle through a window following the accident.

Law enforcement officials at the scene suspected impairment. Woods underwent a breath test but refused to submit to a urine test. He reportedly told officers that he had taken medication related to previous injuries.

He was subsequently arrested and charged with driving under the influence, along with an additional charge for refusing to comply with testing procedures.

The incident comes just days after Woods competed in a match for the Tomorrow’s Golf League. It also draws parallels to a previous crash in 2021 in Rolling Hills Estates, where he suffered serious injuries after his vehicle overturned. At the time, no impairment was detected, though the investigation faced scrutiny.

Woods had earlier faced a similar legal issue in 2017, when he was arrested for DUI in Florida and later sought treatment for prescription medication use.

Authorities said further investigation into the latest incident is ongoing.
