Israel signals intensified offensive against Iran’s military infrastructure

Jerusalem, Mar 29: The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has indicated that it is nearing the completion of a major phase of strikes targeting Iran’s military industry. IDF spokesperson Effie Defrin stated during a live briefing that within days, Israeli forces expect to dismantle key components of Iran’s military production capabilities.

According to Defrin, the ongoing campaign is part of a pre-planned and continuously evolving strategy aimed at delivering a long-term setback to Iran’s defence manufacturing capacity. He suggested that rebuilding these capabilities would take the Iranian leadership considerable time. “We are executing a systematic and extensive operation, adapting constantly to developments on the ground,” he said, adding that the situation presents an opportunity for a significant strategic shift.

Addressing broader regional tensions, Defrin confirmed that Israel is preparing for a potential multi-front conflict. He referenced a missile launched from Yemen on Saturday—the first such attack since the start of joint US-Israeli operations against Iran. He warned that any group targeting Israeli civilians, including the Iran-aligned Houthi movement, would face retaliation.

On the northern front, Defrin reported that Israeli forces have killed more than 850 militants from Hezbollah and are expanding their operational control in southern Lebanon. The move, he said, is intended to prevent attacks on Israeli communities near the border.

Meanwhile, violence escalated within Israel as well. In Tel Aviv, a man in his 60s was killed on Friday night after a missile fired from Iran struck multiple locations in the metropolitan area. Authorities, including Magen David Adom and the Israel Police, reported that the victim, a construction worker, died from shrapnel caused by a cluster munition.

Emergency services also confirmed that at least two others sustained light to moderate injuries. The attack triggered air raid sirens across central Israel, forcing residents to seek shelter. Earlier the same day, another missile launched from Iran into southern Israel left two individuals with minor injuries.

These incidents come amid escalating hostilities following joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran that began on February 28. In response, Iran and its regional allies have carried out retaliatory attacks on Israeli and US-linked targets across the Middle East, raising concerns of a wider regional conflict.
