Bantwal: One held for drug consumption; others flee spot

Bantwal, Mar 31: On the evening of March 30, Bantwal Town police sub-inspector Sandeep Kumar Shettir received information that at Nehru Nagar in Narikombu village of Bantwal taluk, some individuals were consuming narcotic substances and behaving in a manner that caused disturbance to the public.

Acting on the tip-off, he along with his staff proceeded to the location. Upon arrival, they found a car bearing registration number KA19-AE6387 parked at the ground with a group of people inside. On seeing the police, the individuals fled from the spot.

One person among them was apprehended and, upon questioning, identified himself as Shakir (28), a resident of Sajip Moodu, Bantwal. He confessed that he, along with his associates Aseep, Siddiq, and Irshad, had consumed narcotic substances together.

Following this, Shakir was subjected to a medical examination, which confirmed that he had consumed narcotic substances.

In this regard, a case has been registered at Bantwal Town police station under Crime No. 41/2026, Section 27(a) of the NDPS Act, 1985.
