Israel says prepared for ‘weeks’ of fighting with Iran, reports Reuters

Jerusalem, Mar 31: Israel has said it is prepared for several more weeks of fighting in its ongoing conflict with Iran, according to comments reported by Reuters citing an Israeli military spokesperson.

Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shoshani said Israel has the operational readiness to continue the campaign, adding that the duration would ultimately depend on political leadership decisions.

“We are prepared to keep operating for weeks to come. We have the targets for that, the munitions for that, the manpower for that, and it’s up to the leadership to decide,” he was quoted as saying.

The comments come shortly after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the military operation against Iran was “definitely beyond the halfway point,” later clarifying that he was referring to mission progress and not timeline.

The conflict began on February 28 following joint US-Israeli airstrikes, which reportedly escalated tensions sharply between the two sides.

Meanwhile, Amnesty International said in a report that at least 1,900 people, including around 100 schoolchildren, have been killed in Iran as of March 27 due to the ongoing strikes, according to cited reports.
