Jammu, March 31: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday emphasised that the Union Territory’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage will play a crucial role in shaping a brighter and more inclusive future.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Jammu and Kashmir Cultural Festival in Jammu, Sinha highlighted the deep-rooted traditions of the region, noting that the land of Jammu reflects a vibrant blend of folk music, crafts, and devotional art that continue to carry forward timeless values and collective experiences.
The festival, organised by the Shri Kailakh Jyotish and Vedic Sansthan Trust, brought together spiritual leaders, cultural practitioners, and citizens to celebrate and preserve the region’s heritage. Among the prominent attendees was Swami Avdheshanand Giri, who graced the occasion.

Sinha stated that the festival serves as a platform to revive and promote traditional arts, reinforce spiritual foundations, and strengthen cultural identity. He expressed confidence that folk performances, exhibitions, and community-oriented initiatives such as farmer awareness programmes would not only showcase the region’s legacy but also honour those who sustain it.
He underlined that as India continues to rise globally, it must also strengthen its knowledge economy while promoting its cultural and philosophical values worldwide. In a time marked by global conflicts and uncertainty, he said, India stands as a guiding force rooted in a civilisation that has historically spread knowledge, culture, and spirituality across continents.
Calling upon the youth to reconnect with their roots, Sinha urged them to draw inspiration from tradition while fostering innovation and new ideas. He stressed that cultural heritage can act as a powerful tool for social transformation and encouraged young people to contribute to building a more compassionate and united world.
Highlighting the importance of art and culture in nation-building, he said these elements serve as bridges connecting generations and shaping a shared identity. He also credited the leadership of Narendra Modi for driving India’s progress and welfare initiatives over the past decade, describing the period as one of significant transformation.
Sinha further noted that India is witnessing a renaissance, with its professionals, innovators, and thinkers gaining global recognition and contributing to international discourse. He called for sustained efforts to harness this momentum and build systems and technologies that will define the future.
The festival featured a range of activities, including cultural exhibitions, traditional performances, a Kisan Mela, and a free medical camp. Several individuals were also honoured for their contributions in various fields. The event saw participation from public representatives, officials, and a large number of citizens, reflecting widespread enthusiasm for preserving and celebrating the region’s cultural legacy.
