BJP’s Nitin Nabin targets Rahul Gandhi, calls for change in Kerala ahead of polls

New Delhi, Apr 1: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Nabin launched a sharp critique of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during a roadshow in Kerala’s Kannur, accusing opposition parties of collusion and failing to deliver for the people of the state.

Nabin began his rally at Vayanthode Junction in Mattannur and proceeded towards Thalassery Road Link Mall Junction, dismissing Gandhi’s claims that the BJP and the Left Democratic Front (LDF) were working together. “They are match-fixers; they have already fixed the match before the election. Both India and Keralam have seen how they manipulated matters during the UPA government’s tenure. They have done nothing for the people of Kerala,” he told reporters.

The BJP chief also took aim at Congress over the Sabarimala issue, accusing Rahul Gandhi and the party leadership of politicising the matter. “Rahul Gandhi should feel ashamed. The real culprits behind the Sabarimala matter are Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi, as well as the LDF and UDF governments,” he said. Nabin added that the BJP has committed to a “time-bound inquiry through the CBI” to ensure accountability for those responsible.

Projecting the BJP as a growing alternative in Kerala, Nabin expressed confidence in the party’s rising support. “I believe that Keralam is fully prepared to move forward with PM Narendra Modi. The people of Keralam are now seeing the BJP as a real alternative.

For a long time, the LDF and UDF neglected the people here, hindered development, increased corruption, and prioritised their own families over public welfare,” he said.

He further highlighted sectors such as tourism that, according to him, had suffered under previous administrations, suggesting that voters were ready for change under PM Modi’s leadership.

Kerala is scheduled to hold its Assembly elections in a single phase on April 9, with counting of votes set for May 4, alongside other states conducting elections.
