Mumbai, Apr 4: Durgaprasad Saliyan (62), honorary general secretary of the Maharashtra Hotel and Restaurant Federation, owner of Stay House, a well-known hotelier in Greater Mumbai, and a member of the Mulki Manampady Saliyan family, passed away at his residence in Malad on Friday following illness.
Known for his simple personality and straightforward nature, Saliyan was a member of the Billava Association Mumbai and had served as vice president of the Jayasuvarna Abhimani Committee. A devotee of Tulunadu daivas and an organiser, he was an active activist of several organisations and was widely respected as a social worker.

He is survived by his wife, son, daughter, and a large number of relatives and associates.
On Saturday morning, his mortal remains were kept for public viewing at his residence at Rizvi Oak, Raheja Complex Road, near the Western Highway in Malad East. Later, the last rites were performed at Shivdham crematorium in Goregaon East.
Dr Shankar B Shetty, president of the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Association Maharashtra, vice president Shyam N Shetty and other office-bearers, Bharat Bank working president Suryakanth Jaya Suvarna, directors Bhaskar M Salian and Nityananda D Kotyan, along with heads of several organisations, expressed deep condolences and paid tributes.
