Jerusalem, Apr 4: The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) on Saturday announced that it had carried out a series of strikes on critical military infrastructure across Tehran, marking a further escalation in the ongoing conflict with Iran.
According to the IDF, the operation—guided by intelligence inputs—targeted multiple strategic sites, including an aerial defence facility operated by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) that was reportedly storing missiles intended to attack aircraft. Additional targets included a military installation responsible for safeguarding weapons research and development, a ballistic missile storage site, and other weapons production facilities.

“These completed strikes are part of the ongoing phase of increasing damage to Iran’s core systems and foundations,” the IDF said in its statement.
The strikes come amid heightened hostilities in the region. On Friday, two US military aircraft came under Iranian fire, leading to crashes. One pilot from the two-seat F-15 was rescued, while the other remains missing. The incident occurred shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Iranian forces were incapable of targeting American aircraft operating over Tehran.
Meanwhile, Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency reported that at least five people were injured in joint US-Israeli strikes on petrochemical facilities in Khuzestan. The affected companies—Fajr 1 and 2, Regal, Amirkabir, Bandar Imam, and Buali Sina—were located in the Mahshahr Special Petrochemical Zone, which has since been evacuated.
Local authorities also reported damage to the Shalamcheh border trade terminal in Khorramshahr, with officials warning that the number of casualties could rise.
The current conflict traces back to February 28, when the United States and Israel launched coordinated strikes on Iranian targets, including an attack that reportedly killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran subsequently retaliated with missile and drone attacks targeting US and Israeli-linked assets across the region, triggering a wider and ongoing escalation.
