Russia drone strike on Odesa kills three, damages key infrastructure

Odesa, Apr 6: At least three people, including a child, were killed and 10 others injured after Russia launched a drone attack on Ukraine’s Black Sea port city of Odesa overnight on Monday, officials said.

Odesa Regional Governor Oleh Kiper said the city came under a “heavy attack,” with residential buildings, critical infrastructure and administrative facilities suffering significant damage.

“Overnight, Odesa came under another heavy attack by the enemy,” Kiper said, adding that emergency services are working at the affected sites.

The strike is part of an escalation in attacks as the war between Russia and Ukraine enters its fifth year. Odesa remains a key logistics hub and Ukraine’s largest port, handling a major share of the country’s grain and maritime exports.

Authorities are assessing the extent of the damage as rescue operations continue.
