Visakhapatnam, Apr 7: A local cricket match in Visakhapatnam turned tragic after a dispute over a single run escalated into a fatal attack, police said.

According to reports, an argument broke out between two local teams during a match on Sunday over a disputed run. The issue was initially resolved after the umpire, Chiranjeevi, intervened and settled the matter on the field.

However, tensions resurfaced later in the day when Kishore (26), a private photographer, allegedly attacked Ajit (23), the umpire’s brother. Kishore reportedly stabbed Ajit in the chest with a knife following a heated altercation.

Ajit was immediately rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Police said Kishore had earlier argued with the umpire over the same issue before the situation was briefly brought under control. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
