Traders call shutdown, plan march over civic issues

Daijiworld Media Network - Mapusa

Mapusa, Apr 7: Traders in Mapusa have called for a complete market shutdown on Wednesday and announced a protest march to the Mapusa Municipal Council office over a series of long-pending issues.

The agitation comes amid growing frustration among merchants over unresolved arrears, delays in shop licence renewals, and what they describe as a lack of response from authorities.

Traders said repeated representations to the civic body have gone unanswered, adversely affecting their businesses.

With shops expected to remain closed, a large number of traders are set to take part in the march, demanding immediate intervention and resolution of their grievances.
