Man arrested in Mumbai for stealing LPG cylinders amid supply crisis

Mumbai, Apr 8: A 32-year-old man has been arrested by Charkop Police for allegedly stealing 27 LPG cylinders during the ongoing gas shortage, officials said.

According to police, 12 of the stolen cylinders have been recovered along with the tempo used to transport them.

The theft took place on the night between March 25 and 26, when a tempo carrying the cylinders was parked at Kaka Keni Chowk in the Charkop area. The vehicle went missing overnight, prompting the owner, Nandkumar Soni, to file a complaint.

Following the registration of an FIR, police launched an investigation and formed multiple teams to trace the vehicle. Using technical surveillance and specific leads, they were able to track down the accused.

The suspect, identified as Manoj Sharma, was arrested from Nala Sopara, where he resides. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine if others were involved in the theft.
