Mangaluru, Apr 10: On the occasion of World Health Day 2026, Yenepoya Medical College Hospital had organised an awareness programme under this year’s theme ‘Together for Health, Stand with Science’.
The programme was conducted in EMD Auditorium of Yenepoya Medical College Hospital. Dr V K Vineeth, assistant professor in general medicine and consultant in Infectious Diseases at Yenepoya Medical College Hospital presented an awareness talk about the excessive use of antibiotics titled ‘The more we use the more we lose, ID perspectives on antimicrobials’. He emphasised that antimicrobial resistance is a serious global concern and one reason for this is irrational use of antimicrobials.






Doctors, nurses, pharmacists, paramedical staff, hospital administration members, marketing team, and members of the social work department attended the programme. Dr Habib Rahaman A A, medical superintendent and the administrative team of the Yenepoya Medical College Hospital were present and supported this event. Niliesha Melita Carvallo, assistant hospital operations officer compered the programme.
To mark the World Health Day, Yenepoya Medical College Hospital had arranged the blood sugar estimation, blood pressure measurement, bone mineral density test, body mass index evaluation and diet consultation free of cost for the visitors and general public. Around 250 participants took advantage of the free screening and consultation.
