Udupi, Apr 13: Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of ‘The American Society of Mechanical Engineers’(ASME) Student Section and the installation of its office bearers was held on April 11, at the college campus.
The programme began with traditional lamp lighting by chief guest Dr Sathyashankara Sharma, senior professor at School of Mechanical Engineering at MIT, Manipal, along with Dr Nagaraj Bhat, principal, SMVITM, who graced the event. The programme was presided over by Dr Radhakrishna S Aithal, CEO, SODE Group of Institutions. The launch of the banner of ASME SMVITM student section followed, after which the newly elected office bearers and all ASME student members took the official oath administered by the faculty advisor of ASME student section Sudhir.



Delivering the keynote address, Dr Sathyashankara Sharma urged students to develop entrepreneurial mindset and briefed the importance of having membership of prestigious professional bodies like ASME. Also, he has insisted the students to fetch maximum benefits from the ASME membership.
Inspirational messages from the principal and CEO emphasized the institution’s commitment to holistic education, global collaboration, and technical advancement.
HoD of mechanical engineering Dr Raja YateeshYadav welcomed the gathering and Sudhir proposed a vote of thanks. Dr Manjunatha S rendered the invocation and Ananth Mohan Mallya compered the programme.
