Blood donation & free health checkup camp successfully organized by MCC Qatar

Doha, Apr 13: Mangalore Cricket Club Qatar, a socio-cultural associate organization of Indian Cultural Center Qatar under the aegis of the Embassy of India, Doha, successfully conducted a blood donation campaign and free health checkup camp in cooperation with Hamad Medical Corporation and Asian Medical Center at their premises in Al Wakrah, Doha, Qatar.

The campaign aimed to promote a culture of voluntary blood donation by raising awareness about its life-saving importance. It received an enthusiastic response from MCC members and the wider community, who came forward in large numbers to support this noble initiative. This marked the 13th blood donation campaign organized by MCC, with a steady turnout of donors from 8 AM until noon.

The event commenced with a warm welcome by joint cultural secretary Sean Fernandes. The chief guest, A P Manikantan, president of the Indian Cultural Center, graced the occasion. MCC advisors Alfred Sequeira, president Denzil Christine Lobo, and vice president Ryan Renjar were present on the dais.

Vice president Ryan Renjar addressed the gathering and expressed appreciation for the strong turnout in the morning. He acknowledged the presence and support of prominent community leaders, including ICBF general secretary Deepak Shetty, ICC managing committee member Sandeep Sriramareddy, and representatives from various Karnataka-based associations. He also commended the active participation of MCC advisors, executive committee members, and volunteers.

The guest speaker, Dr Aliya Fatima Hyderi, a licensed general practitioner with 14 years of experience, delivered an insightful talk on common health issues, including diabetes and blood pressure management. She appreciated MCC’s continued efforts in organizing such impactful community initiatives.

In his address, chief guest A P Manikantan praised MCC for successfully organizing its 13th blood donation campaign and for its ongoing socio-cultural contributions. He also shared insights from his personal journey toward maintaining good health.

The parish priest of Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Fr Paulraj, took part in the campaign by donating blood, setting an inspiring example in support of the noble initiative. Members of the Konkan Toastmasters Club also actively participated in this noble campaign.

More than 150 people participated in and benefited from the campaign, reflecting the community’s strong commitment to supporting this noble cause.

MCC president and executive committee members led by example by donating blood and encouraging friends and colleagues to participate. Refreshments were provided to all attendees. With strong community support, MCC achieved a remarkable response, marking another milestone in its service initiatives.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by emcee Sean Fernandes, who expressed gratitude to all donors, guests, and the management of Hamad Medical Corporation for their invaluable support in strengthening blood bank reserves across Qatar.
