Giridih (Jharkhand), Apr 16: A devastating road accident involving three trucks near a toll plaza in Giridih claimed the lives of two people who were burnt alive after their vehicle caught fire early Thursday morning, officials said.
The incident occurred near the Kulgo toll plaza under Dumri police station limits when a speeding truck reportedly lost control and rammed into two trucks parked along the roadside.
According to preliminary information, the out-of-control vehicle first crashed into a stationary truck before colliding with another coal-laden truck ahead. The impact triggered a massive fire in the cabins, which quickly spread and engulfed the vehicles.

A driver and a cleaner trapped inside one of the trucks were unable to escape and died in the blaze. Eyewitnesses said the intensity of the fire prevented locals from approaching the vehicles despite attempts to rescue those trapped.
Two trucks were completely gutted, while a third sustained partial damage.
Police and fire brigade teams rushed to the scene and managed to control the fire after significant effort. The charred bodies were later recovered from the wreckage.
Another truck driver sustained serious injuries and was shifted to a nearby hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Officials said initial findings point to overspeeding and negligence as the likely cause of the accident. Efforts are ongoing to establish the identities of the deceased, and a detailed investigation has been launched to determine the exact sequence of events.
Traffic movement in the area was later restored after the damaged vehicles were cleared from the road.
