RTIMES 2026 International Conference inaugurated at Srinivas Institute of Technology

Mangaluru, Apr 17: The departments of aeronautical, automobile, marine, and mechanical engineering of Srinivas Institute of Technology, Mangaluru, organized the inaugural function of the 5th International Conference on Recent Trends in Mechanical Engineering Sciences 2026 (RTIMES 2026) on April 17. The function was presided over by Dr Shrinivasa Mayya D, patron & principal, who served as the president of the programme. The chief guest for the occasion was Dr Shrikantha S Rao, professor, department of mechanical engineering, National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal, who also delivered the keynote address.

In his presidential address, Dr Shrinivasa Mayya D emphasized the importance of such conferences in fostering innovative ideas in research and contributing to societal development. He congratulated the organizing committee of RTIMES 2026 and highlighted the need for collaboration across various engineering disciplines to achieve productive research outcomes.

The chief guest, Dr Shrikantha S Rao, in his address, stated that such conferences help in generating new research ideas and providing solutions to public problems. In his keynote address on “Emerging Trends in Automation,” he explained the evolution from Industry 4.0 to Industry 5.0, highlighting automation driven by Artificial Intelligence. He also discussed key areas such as Industrial IoT, AI, robotics, augmented reality, and data-driven decision-making.

Dr Shankar K S, conference chair, presented an overview of the conference series. He briefed the gathering about the objectives and scope of RTIMES 2026 and informed that a total of 65 research papers will be presented at the conference and considered for publication in Scopus-indexed journals.

The programme commenced with a warm welcome by Dr Sandesh Kumar Rai, convener, who greeted the dignitaries, participants, and attendees and highlighted the significance of the conference. Dr Praveen Shenoy K, conference co-chair, formally introduced the chief guest, highlighting his academic achievements and contributions to the field of mechanical engineering. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof Prakash Tanappagol, co-convener, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, participants, organizers, and attendees for making the event a success. The master of ceremony for the programme was Prof Vivek V Kumar, department of marine engineering.
