Mumbai, Apr 21: Relatives of Yusuf Pathan, including his father-in-law, have been arrested in Mumbai following an alleged assault on a local man and his family after a minor road dispute, police said on Tuesday.
According to officials from the Byculla Police Station, the incident took place on Saturday night around 9 pm when a local resident, Yusuf Khan (30), was returning home. Water from a pothole allegedly splashed onto another individual, identified as Shoaib Khan (35), after Yusuf Khan’s car passed through it.
Police said Yusuf Khan stopped his vehicle and apologised, but the situation escalated when Shoaib allegedly began abusing him, damaged the car’s windshield using a bamboo stick and physically assaulted him, causing injuries.

Following the incident, Yusuf Khan returned home and was advised by family members to file a complaint. However, while heading to the police station, he reportedly encountered a group led by Khalid Khan, also known as ‘Makalik’, who is the father-in-law of Yusuf Pathan.
Investigators said Khalid Khan, along with his son Umarsad Pathan (35), Shoaib Pathan and another accused, Shehbaz Pathan, allegedly attacked Yusuf Khan and his relatives using bamboo sticks and baseball bats.
During the assault, Yusuf Khan’s brother Salman suffered a fractured arm, while his uncle Zaki Ahmed sustained serious injuries.
Police have arrested three accused, including the father-in-law, while Shehbaz Pathan remains absconding. A search operation is underway to trace him.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including provisions related to assault and causing grievous injuries.
The arrested accused were produced before a court and have been remanded to judicial custody.
Police said the arrests were made based on CCTV footage, eyewitness accounts and the recovery of weapons used in the attack. Further investigation is in progress.
