Amazon shipment fraud of Rs 35 lac exposed, two held

New Delhi, Apr 21: Delhi Police have exposed a suspected online delivery fraud involving high-value Amazon orders, leading to the arrest of two individuals and recovery of stolen goods worth nearly Rs 10 lac, officials confirmed on Tuesday.

The case revolves around the alleged misappropriation of mobile phone shipments, with the total loss estimated at around Rs 35 lac.

Acting on a complaint, police registered an FIR at Bharat Nagar Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), after a Delhi resident reported that he had placed orders for 50 iPhone 16 units (128 GB) between April 12 and April 16 via Amazon. Although the platform showed all items as successfully delivered, the complainant stated that he never received the phones.

Investigators suspect that delivery personnel, in coordination with accomplices, falsely marked packages as delivered and diverted the high-value consignments.

A special team from PP Sangam Park under Bharat Nagar Police Station was formed to investigate the matter. The operation was supervised by senior officers and led by SI Rajesh Pilania along with supporting staff.

During the probe, police examined records at a logistics facility on GT Karnal Road Industrial Area, where discrepancies were identified in multiple deliveries. Out of 32 tracking IDs reviewed, 26 were linked to a single delivery agent, Jaspreet Singh, aged 21, who was later traced and detained along with his associate Himanshu, aged 30—both residents of Kishan Ganj, Delhi.
Interrogation revealed that the duo allegedly conspired to misappropriate the consignments for illegal profit. Based on their disclosure, police recovered 14 sealed iPhone 16 devices valued at approximately Rs 10 lac.

Authorities noted that both accused are first-time offenders and had allegedly committed the fraud for quick financial gain. Efforts are ongoing to trace the remaining missing devices and determine whether the duo is linked to other similar incidents.
Police said the investigation is still in progress and further arrests cannot be ruled out.
