Tehran, Apr 22: Iran has issued a stern warning that it will respond with full military force if the United States or Israel launches any attack against it, according to a statement broadcast on state media early Wednesday.
The message was delivered by Ebrahim Zolfaghari, spokesperson for the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, who said Iran’s armed forces are fully prepared to act decisively. He warned that both the US and Israel would face severe consequences, asserting that any aggression would be met with a stronger retaliation.
The development comes amid fragile diplomatic conditions between Iran and the United States. Around the same time, US President Donald Trump announced that the ceasefire with Iran would be extended indefinitely.

Trump said the decision followed a request from Pakistan and added that Washington is awaiting a unified proposal from Iran before proceeding with further negotiations. In a post on Truth Social, he stated that the US military would maintain its blockade while remaining prepared for any outcome.
The ceasefire, initially agreed upon for two weeks, was set to expire on Wednesday. However, ongoing discussions to extend the truce have encountered hurdles, casting uncertainty over future progress.
Meanwhile, plans for US Vice President JD Vance to visit Islamabad for another round of talks have been put on hold. Reports indicate that Iran has temporarily stepped back from continuing negotiations.
Adding to the uncertainty, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir were mentioned in connection with efforts to mediate the situation, though Iran has not officially confirmed its participation in further dialogue.
With tensions remaining high, the fate of the ceasefire and future diplomatic engagement continues to hang in the balance.
