Udupi, Apr 28: In response to a severe water shortage, local authorities have begun supplying water to households in Kasamballi, Huligudde and Kajadi areas under Shankaranarayana gram panchayat using an SLRM vehicle.
Wells and small water sources that residents depended on in these areas have dried up, leaving villagers struggling with drinking water scarcity and forcing many to halt agricultural activities. There has also been an acute shortage of water for livestock.

The issue had recently been highlighted in a special report, drawing attention to the worsening situation in Kasamballi, where even drinking water had become scarce.
Residents said that the area faces water problems every summer, but the situation had intensified this year. “Following the media report, the local administration responded to our plight and started supplying water. We are thankful, but instead of temporary relief, permanent solutions must be implemented,” said local resident Prakash Naik.
Officials stated that water is currently being supplied through the Panchayat’s SLRM vehicle. Panchayat PDO Mamata said steps would soon be taken to restore the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) pipeline and ensure regular water supply through taps in the affected areas.
