Doha, Apr 28: The Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC) Qatar successfully organized the inaugural MCC Premier League (MPL Season 1) on April 24 at the Old Ideal Indian School Grounds, Doha, Qatar. The tournament was conducted in grand fashion with the aim of fostering unity and sportsmanship within the community.
A total of four teams participated in this exciting edition: MCC BT Gang, MCC Kudla Stars, MCC Moodubelle, and MCC Royals. Players showcased immense enthusiasm, making the tournament highly competitive and entertaining.
Grand Inauguration Ceremony
The tournament featured a vibrant inauguration ceremony hosted by emcee Carol Rosly Quadras. Dignitaries present included founder member and advisor Jerald D'Mello, president & MPL chairman Denzil Christen Lobo, vice president Ryan Renjar, sports secretary Shameen Lewis, along with other MCC advisors and EXCOM members.
The ceremony began with the MCC theme song, followed by a silent prayer in memory of late advisor Henry D'Souza. The team owners felicitated included Mary Vincent Mendonca (MCC Moodubelle), Prashanth D'Mello (MCC BT Gang), Pradeep Mendonca (MCC Kudla Stars), and Stanly D'Souza (MCC Royals).
A special appreciation was given to Steeven Rego for his long-standing contribution to MCC Qatar. The inauguration concluded with a cheerful player march led by MCC children and a lively dance performance. Spot games were also conducted for kids and ladies by EXCOM members.
After completion of the league matches, MCC Moodubelle and MCC BT Gang qualified for the grand finals.
The grand final
In the final, MCC BT Gang won the toss and elected to field. MCC Moodubelle delivered a dominant performance and posted a strong total, led by an explosive innings from Vincent Shirva. Despite a spirited effort from BT Gang, MCC Moodubelle secured a well-deserved victory to be crowned Champions of MPL Season 1, while MCC BT Gang finished as Runners-up.
Presentation ceremony & awards
The presentation ceremony was graced by MCC advisors and EXCOM members. Referees Rahul Mohite, Deepak Poojary, and Akshay Rao were felicitated for their fair officiating, while Emcee Carol Rosly Quadras was honored for her excellent hosting.
Individual awards:

• Best Batsman: Prashanth Dmello (MCC BT Gang)
• Best Bowler: Leston Sequeira (MCC Moodubelle)
• Most Valuable Player: Vincent Shirva (MCC Moodubelle)
The individual awards were presented by MCC advisors. The trophies were presented by Jerald D'Mello, with medals awarded to the winning team players.
