Washington, Apr 28: Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of Donald Trump, is currently in South Korea on a four-day visit, with sources indicating that the trip is primarily focused on business engagements.
This marks Trump Jr.’s second visit to South Korea since his father began his second presidential term last year. His latest trip comes at a time of heightened global uncertainty, particularly due to tensions in the Middle East, as well as ongoing discussions between Seoul and Washington on key issues such as South Korea’s proposed $350 billion investment in the United States and restrictions related to intelligence-sharing on North Korea.

Trump Jr. had previously visited the country in April last year at the invitation of Chung Yong-jin, chairman of Shinsegae Group. During that visit, he held private meetings with leading South Korean business figures, including Kim Dong-kwan, exploring potential cooperation in sectors such as shipbuilding, defence, and energy.
According to sources, prominent South Korean business leaders had encouraged Chung to arrange Trump Jr.’s visit to help strengthen connections with the current US administration. Executives from industries including semiconductors, automobiles, energy, steel, and defence are reportedly keen to hold individual meetings with him during his stay.
Trump Jr. is known to share a close personal relationship with Chung. As part of his itinerary, he is also expected to attend a concert celebrating the debut album release of flutist Han Jee-hee, Chung’s wife.
Chung’s ties with the Trump family are well established—he has previously visited the Mar-a-Lago estate and attended President Trump’s inauguration along with his wife last year.
