Wild elephant sighted near third bend on Charmadi Ghat, triggers panic among motorists

Beltangady, Apr 30: A wild elephant was spotted near the third bend of Charmadi Ghat on Wednesday during daytime, causing panic among commuters passing through the stretch.

According to reports, the elephant was seen standing on an elevated patch near the curve, apparently searching for a way to descend onto the road. However, unable to find a path, it remained at the spot for some time.

The sighting alarmed motorists, many of whom halted their vehicles at a safe distance after noticing the animal.

Due to poor network connectivity in the ghat section, travellers were unable to immediately alert forest department officials about the situation.

Forest authorities have since advised commuters to exercise caution while travelling through Charmadi Ghat, which is known for frequent wildlife movement.
