Sultanpur, Apr 30: What began as a festive wedding procession in Uttar Pradesh’s Sultanpur district took a bizarre turn after loud DJ music allegedly led to the death of around 140 chickens at a nearby poultry farm.

The incident occurred on April 25 in Dariyapur village under the Baldirai police station limits, when a baraat passed through the area with high-volume music.

According to police, the procession had arrived from Ram Bhadra Purwa village in Kudwar for a wedding. As it moved through Dariyapur, a DJ system playing at high decibel levels passed in front of a poultry farm owned by Sabir Ali.

Ali alleged that the intense noise caused panic among the birds, triggering chaos inside the farm. In the commotion, about 140 chickens reportedly died due to shock.

Following the incident, Ali lodged a complaint with the police.

Sub-Inspector Bharat Singh said a case has been registered against the DJ operator, identified as Kavi Yadav, a resident of Parsipur in Kudwar area.

Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the deaths and to determine whether excessive noise levels during the procession were responsible.

The unusual incident has drawn attention locally, raising concerns over the impact of loud music at wedding processions on both people and animals.
