Hyderabad, Apr 30: Union minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy announced on Thursday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for development projects worth Rs 7,823 crore during his visit to Hyderabad on May 10.

Kishan Reddy said this will be the Prime Minister’s first visit to Telangana after beginning his third term in office. He added that Modi will address a public gathering at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad following the inauguration of several infrastructure projects.

The projects include major railway and highway developments aimed at boosting connectivity across the state. The Prime Minister will virtually lay the foundation stone for national highway projects worth about Rs 3,175 crore in the Mahabubnagar region. He is also set to inaugurate the third railway line between Kazipet and Vijayawada, built at an estimated cost of Rs 1,243 crore.

In addition, new railway stations at Hafeezpet and Jogulamba will be inaugurated. The minister claimed that railway projects worth around ?85,000 crore are currently underway in Telangana. He also noted the expansion of Multi-Modal Transport System services from Hyderabad to Yadagirigutta.

Other initiatives include the launch of a petroleum products production terminal and ongoing development of the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park in Warangal.

Kishan Reddy said the central government is giving high priority to Telangana’s development and added that the decision on Phase 2 of the Hyderabad Metro Rail project will be taken once the Detailed Project Report is submitted.

During the public meeting organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Prime Minister is expected to highlight the party’s performance in the recent parliamentary elections and thank voters in the state for their support.

The party also plans to mobilise large crowds from Hyderabad and across Telangana for the event, which is expected to be a major political and development-focused gathering.
