New Delhi, May 2: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has conveyed his concern over the health of Ajay Rai, wishing the Uttar Pradesh Congress chief a quick recovery after news of his illness emerged.

In a message shared on X, the Prime Minister said he was saddened to learn about Rai’s condition and expressed hope for his speedy recovery.
According to sources within the Indian National Congress in the state, Rai was admitted to a hospital in Varanasi after experiencing sudden health issues, including weakness and unstable blood pressure. Doctors have stated that his condition is stable, though he remains under close observation for further assessment.

Party colleagues noted that Rai had been heavily involved in organisational work and public outreach efforts in recent days, which may have led to exhaustion. He reportedly felt unwell late Thursday night and was promptly taken to a nearby medical facility for initial evaluation.

Senior Congress leaders have since been visiting him at the hospital and are regularly consulting with medical staff. Party workers have also voiced concern, with many sharing messages of support on social media.
A key political figure in eastern Uttar Pradesh and a former MLA from Varanasi, Rai has been actively working to strengthen the Congress party’s presence in the region. His hospitalisation comes at a time when political momentum is building in the state ahead of upcoming elections.

Leaders from various political parties have also extended their well wishes, reflecting a moment of unity beyond party lines. Doctors are expected to release a detailed update after additional tests, while party sources remain hopeful that Rai will soon recover and return to his responsibilities.
