Kolkata, May 4: Raghav Chadha congratulated the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) following its strong performance in the West Bengal Assembly elections, praising the party’s leadership for what he described as a historic mandate.

Taking to X after the results, Chadha congratulated the BJP and termed the party’s performance in West Bengal as a “historic and decisive victory”.

“Congratulations to the entire BJP family on the impressive election results, with West Bengal marking a historic and decisive victory that stands out as truly remarkable,” he wrote.

He also highlighted the BJP’s performance in Assam and Puducherry, saying the results reflected public faith in development and governance.

Chadha attributed the victories to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president Nitin Nabin.

Calling the results “a win for every citizen aspiring for a stronger, more developed India”, Chadha’s remarks came amid continued political attention over his recent shift in political alignment.

In West Bengal, the BJP crossed the 200-seat mark, comfortably surpassing the majority threshold, while the ruling All India Trinamool Congress faced a major setback after 15 years in power.

In Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma led the BJP towards a third consecutive term, with the party leading in 101 of 126 seats. In Puducherry, the NDA was also set to retain power with leads in 17 of 30 seats.

Meanwhile, in neighbouring Tamil Nadu, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, led by actor-turned-politician Vijay, made a notable electoral debut.
