KMC Hospital launches special mammogram package to boost breast cancer screening awareness

Media Release

Mangaluru, May 5: KMC Hospital Mangaluru has announced a special breast health screening initiative aimed at promoting early detection and awareness of breast cancer. As part of this limited-period campaign from May 5 to 16, bilateral mammogram screenings will be offered at a special price of Rs 1200, making this essential diagnostic service more accessible to women across the region.

The initiative has been introduced to encourage annual screening, especially among women above the age of 40 and those with a family history of breast cancer. Early detection through regular mammograms significantly improves treatment outcomes and survival rates, yet many women delay screening due to cost concerns or lack of awareness. By offering mammograms at a reduced price, the hospital seeks to remove these barriers and drive proactive health-seeking behavior.

The screening programme will be supported by the hospital’s advanced radiology infrastructure and experienced women radiologist and technicians, ensuring accurate and reliable results. Women opting for the screening will also have access to expert consultation for further evaluation and guidance if required. Time 9 am to 5pm excluding Sundays. Prior appointment is advised.

Speaking about the initiative, Dr Basila Ali, consultant breast surgery, KMC Hospital Mangaluru, said, “Breast cancer, when detected early, is highly treatable. Unfortunately, many women still come to us at advanced stages due to delayed screening. Regular mammograms can help identify abnormalities even before symptoms appear. Through this initiative, we hope to encourage more women to prioritize their breast health and undergo timely screening without financial hesitation.”
