Kundapur, May 7: A 25-year-old woman from Gopady has lodged a complaint against her husband and five of his family members, alleging physical and mental harassment over dowry demands and threats to her life.

According to the complaint, Tasma had married Junaid, a resident of Avinahalli in Sagar taluk, in 2022. During the marriage, her family had reportedly given Rs 2 lac in cash and 50 sovereigns of gold.

However, after the marriage, Junaid and his family members — Hasainar, Aleemabi, Saleem, Umaima and Rashmila — allegedly began demanding additional cash and gold, subjecting her to continuous harassment.

The complainant alleged that the accused pressured her to bring Rs 10 lac for the construction of a petrol bunk. When she refused, her husband allegedly assaulted her and threatened to divorce her as well as issue death threats.

Based on the complaint, a case has been registered against six persons at the Kundapur Town police station, and further investigation is underway.
