Goa authorities dismiss viral parasailing incident claims as misleading

Panaji, May 7: Goa authorities have rejected reports circulating on social media and in sections of the media claiming that a recent parasailing accident occurred at one of the state’s beaches. According to Goa Police, the incident shown in the viral video actually dates back to 2019 and did not take place within Goa’s jurisdiction.

The clarification came after an old video resurfaced online and began spreading widely, raising concerns among tourists and the public.

A senior official from the Department of Tourism, Goa, urged people not to believe or share unverified information that could create unnecessary panic or negatively affect tourism without proper fact-checking.

The official stated that Goa Tourism continues to prioritise visitor safety and ensures that beaches across the state remain secure for tourists, provided local safety guidelines are followed and seasonal ocean conditions are respected.

The tourism department also highlighted several safety measures already in place, including the “Safe & Clean Beaches” initiative, which focuses on improving public safety, maintaining cleanliness, reducing crime, and ensuring proper conduct at tourist destinations across the state.
