Chennai, May 8: Uncertainty continues over government formation in Tamil Nadu even after Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay met Governor R N Ravi and staked claim to form the government.
Though TVK emerged as the single largest party in the recently concluded Assembly elections, the delay in officially inviting Vijay to form the government has triggered fresh political discussions across the state. Sources said the Governor is closely verifying the final support numbers and letters submitted by alliance parties before taking a decision.

Political circles in Chennai witnessed hectic developments throughout the day, with senior TVK leaders holding back-to-back meetings with alliance partners. While Congress and Left parties are believed to have extended support, uncertainty reportedly remains over a few regional parties, making the situation politically sensitive.
Meanwhile, opposition parties DMK and AIADMK intensified attacks on TVK, questioning the stability of the proposed alliance and alleging confusion in the government formation process. Party workers and supporters of Vijay, however, gathered outside TVK offices in several districts expressing confidence that the actor-turned-politician will soon take oath as Chief Minister.
Adding further drama to the developments, legal discussions have also surfaced regarding the Governor’s delay in announcing the next step, with reports indicating that the matter may reach higher judicial forums if the deadlock continues.
With suspense continuing over the formation of the new government, Tamil Nadu’s political atmosphere remains tense, and all eyes are now on the Governor’s next announcement.
