Bantwal, May 9: Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy, in association with the Bantwal Taluk Beary Sahitya Parishad, will organise the Bantwal Taluk Beary Literary Conference on May 12 at S S Auditorium in Aladka, Panemangalore, academy president Ummar U H said.
Addressing a press meet at the conference reception committee office at B C Road in Bantwal on Saturday evening, he said the conference has been organised with the objective of uniting the community through language.
He said the conference president’s procession will begin at 9.30 am from near Sri Sharada High School to the conference venue and will be inaugurated by reception committee honorary advisor Haji P Muhammed Rafiq. At 10 am, Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy president Ummar U H will hoist the flag.
At 10.30 am, Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker Dr U T Khader Fareed will inaugurate the conference, while senior poet and singer Rahim B C Road will deliver the presidential address.
MLA U Rajesh Naik will release the Beary short story collection ‘Bail Male’ authored by Umairath Kumeer.
Former chairman of the Karnataka Cashew Development Corporation Haji B H Khader, former Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat vice-president M S Muhammed, Mohiuddin Educational Institution president B Abdul Salam Thumbe, Janapriya Group managing director Dr Abdul Basheer V K, VTU senate member Dr Musthafa Bastikodi, Bantwal child development project officer Mumtaz H I, and senior resident doctor of A J Hospital Dr Haseena Ponnodi will attend as chief guests.
At 12 noon, a discussion session on the conference president’s address will be moderated by journalist Basheer Adyanadka. Participants will include Thumbe Pre-University College lecturer D B Abdul Rahiman, writer and poet Ayesha U K, and Yenepoya Degree College professor Muhammed Shahid Valavoor.
A Beary poets’ meet will be held from 2 pm onwards.
During the valedictory programme at 4.30 pm, Dr M M Shareef, Abbonu Nandavar, Avvamma Okkethur, Abdul Khader Monunji Kalladka, Ismail Arabi Bantwal, Mohammed Kodapadavu and Zubaida Parlottu will be felicitated.
Former minister B Ramanath Rai, former chairman of the State Minorities Commission Haji G A Bawa, registrar of Dr D Y Patil University Dr B M Beeran Mohiddin, former Bantwal Taluk Panchayat president Haji Usman Karopady, and senior journalist Ibrahim Adkasthala will attend as chief guests. Government PU College Puttur lecturer Abdul Razak Ananthadi will deliver the valedictory address.
The conference will also feature Duff performances, Beary songs, and staging of the Beary drama ‘Theru Thappir’.
