UP man booked for rape, extortion in Goa

Margao, May 9: Margao Police have registered an FIR against a man from Uttar Pradesh for allegedly raping a woman after intoxicating her and extorting more than Rs 16 lakh from her.

According to the complaint filed by the victim, the incident took place on June 15, 2024, at a hotel near Gate No. 6 of the Margao Railway Station.

The accused has been identified as Pappu Tiwari, also known by the aliases Sachdev Tiwari, Dev Pandit and Ajay Tiwari, a resident of Balrampur in Uttar Pradesh.

The woman alleged that the accused intoxicated her before forcibly having sexual intercourse with her.

She further claimed that the accused extorted more than Rs 16 lakh from her.

Police have registered a case against the accused under Sections 506, 420, 406, 384, 376 and 328 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Further investigation into the case is underway.
