Kolkata, May 11: The Enforcement Directorate on Monday arrested former West Bengal minister Sujit Bose in connection with the alleged Municipality Recruitment Scam, official sources said.
Bose is expected to be produced before a special court on Tuesday.
According to the ED, Bose allegedly recommended nearly 150 candidates for various posts in the South Dum Dum Municipality in exchange for monetary benefits.

Investigators claimed they traced proceeds of crime in the form of flats allegedly acquired by Bose for facilitating appointments in the municipality.
The agency also alleged that large cash deposits were found in bank accounts linked to him.
The arrest came hours after Bose appeared before the ED office at the CGO Complex in Salt Lake for questioning in connection with the case. He reportedly arrived at around 10.30 am accompanied by his son, Samudra Bose.
Sources said this was not the first time the former minister had been summoned by the ED in connection with alleged recruitment irregularities in South Dum Dum Municipality.
During the recent West Bengal Assembly election campaign, Bose reportedly received multiple notices from the agency, including one on April 6, the day nomination papers were filed.
He had earlier approached the Calcutta High Court seeking exemption from appearing before the ED, citing election campaign commitments.
Following the elections, he appeared before ED officials on May 1.
The ED had earlier conducted raids at premises linked to Bose and his son in connection with the investigation.
During searches carried out at 13 locations on October 10, 2025, including Bose’s office, investigators allegedly recovered incriminating documents and seized Rs 45 lakh in cash.
The alleged municipality recruitment scam reportedly surfaced during the ED’s investigation into the Primary Teachers Recruitment Scam in West Bengal.
During raids conducted in 2023 at properties linked to Ayan Sil and others, the agency recovered documents and digital evidence suggesting irregularities in municipal recruitments across several civic bodies, including South Dum Dum Municipality.
The alleged illegal appointments reportedly involved posts such as labourers, sweepers, clerks, peons, ambulance attendants, assistant mistries, pump operators, helpers, sanitary assistants and drivers.
The ED further alleged that contracts related to several municipalities were awarded to a single company, ABS Infozon Pvt Ltd, where Ayan Sil was a director.
Investigators claimed Sil, in conspiracy with public servants, political leaders and private individuals, facilitated illegal appointments of candidates in exchange for money.
