Mangaluru, May 13: In an effort to resolve compoundable cases currently pending before the Supreme Court at the district and taluk levels, a special Lok Adalat titled 'Samadhan Samaroh 2026' will be held from August 21 to 23, announced Principal District and Sessions Judge Basavaraj.
Addressing a press conference at the district court premises on Tuesday, the judge stated that 43 cases pertaining to the district, which are currently pending in the Supreme Court, will be taken up for settlement through mutual compromise during this special adalat. He added that, if necessary, proceedings will be conducted via video conferencing to connect with the Supreme Court's special Lok Adalat.

Individuals with doubts or queries regarding the settlement of their Supreme Court cases can approach the local taluk legal services committee or the district legal services authority for guidance.
Special Adalats for cheque bounce cases Judge Basavaraj also announced that dedicated special Lok Adalats specifically for the disposal of cheque bounce cases will be held on July 18 and November 21. Currently, 13,357 cheque bounce cases are pending in the district. Cases eligible for mutual compromise will be identified and resolved during these sessions.
National Lok Adalat on July 11 Furthermore, the second National Lok Adalat of the year is scheduled to take place on July 11 across district and taluk courts. This adalat will focus on settling various compoundable disputes, including:
• Motor Vehicle Act cases
• Cheque bounce cases
• Illegal sand mining and transportation
• Labour compensation disputes
• Electricity and water bill disputes
• Salary, allowance, and pension disputes
The judge noted that as of the end of April, a total of 55,335 cases remain pending for settlement across the district.
Senior civil judge and member secretary of the Legal Services Authority, Jaibunnisa, was also present at the press conference.
