Udupi: Young woman allegedly stabbed by rejected lover

Udupi, May 13: A shocking incident of attempted murder was reported from Shantinagar on the Manipal-Alevoor road, where a young woman was allegedly stabbed by a rejected lover on Tuesday night.

The victim has been identified as Yogita (23), a native of Ankola. She was residing at a women’s paying guest (PG) accommodation located in the Ideal Building near Shantinagar.

According to preliminary information, the accused attacked the woman with a knife after she allegedly rejected his romantic advances. The violent assault has left the victim seriously injured.

Following the incident, Yogita was rushed to a private hospital, where she has been admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) and is currently undergoing treatment.

The accused is currently absconding. The police have launched a search operation to trace and arrest him. Senior police officials visited the crime scene to conduct an inspection. Further investigations into the case are underway.
