Udupi: Cricket betting accused externed from district

Udupi, May 15: In a move against illegal cricket betting activities, the special executive magistrate and superintendent of police of Udupi district have issued an externment order against Bharat Jayaram Das (34), a resident of Varamballi village in Brahmavar taluk.

According to police, three cases related to cricket betting have been registered against him at Kota police station and Kundapur police station. He has already been convicted in one of the cases, while investigations are still under way in the remaining two.

As per the externment order issued on May 14, 2026, Bharat Jayaram Das has been externed from Udupi district and directed to remain within the jurisdiction of Kengeri police station under the Bengaluru police commissionerate limits.
