Kundapur, May 18: A leopard that had strayed from the forest into a residential area fell into a well at Hosamane in Jansale of Siddapur village on Sunday May 17.

The leopard reportedly fell into the well after the net tied over it tore apart. The residents informed the forest department, following which the animal was safely lifted out of the well using a cage.

The leopard, identified as a nearly four-year-old female, was brought to the Shankaranarayana range forest office, where it was examined by a veterinarian before being safely released back into the forest area.

Deputy range forest officers Manjunath and Santosh Tatlagi, forest guards Zaheer and Prashanth, other staff members, and local residents participated in the rescue operation.
