New Delhi, May 21: India’s major state-run oil marketing companies — Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL), and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) — have assured consumers that petrol, diesel and LPG supplies remain stable across the country.
In separate statements on social media platform X, the companies said their fuel distribution networks are functioning smoothly, with adequate stock levels and continuous replenishment, and urged the public not to believe rumours about shortages circulating online.

HPCL clarified that fuel and LPG supplies are stable in states such as Rajasthan, Karnataka and parts of Uttarakhand, despite misleading posts on social media suggesting otherwise. The company said all petrol stations in Rajasthan, including those in Jaipur, are operating normally with sufficient inventory.
According to HPCL, petrol sales in Rajasthan increased by 19 per cent between May 1 and May 20 compared to historical trends, while diesel sales rose by 24.5 per cent during the same period, indicating strong supply-chain responsiveness.
The company also dismissed claims of shortages in Uttarakhand’s Augustmuni and Guptkashi regions, stating that nearby fuel stations are well-stocked and no restrictions have been imposed on sales.
In Karnataka, HPCL said LPG distribution remains stable even as authorities take action against black marketing and irregular practices. The state government has reportedly seized 1,874 LPG cylinders and initiated cases against illegal activities as of May 19.
Meanwhile, IOCL said its nationwide retail network continues to maintain sufficient petrol and diesel stocks to ensure uninterrupted availability for consumers, stressing that supply chains are operating normally.
“Drive responsibly, refuel calmly, and trust only verified information,” IOCL said in its advisory on X.
Separately, BPCL confirmed that fuel availability at its outlet in Kaladhungi in Uttarakhand’s Nainital district is normal, with stocks sufficient for around four days of regular demand. The company also said fresh supplies have already been dispatched to ensure continuous availability.
The oil companies collectively urged consumers to avoid panic buying and rely only on official communications for accurate information regarding fuel supply conditions.
