Jabalpur, May 22: At least 31 NCC cadets attending a training camp at the IIITDM campus in Jabalpur fell ill on Wednesday after complaining of headache, dizziness, vomiting and fever, officials said.

The cadets had arrived from nearby districts to participate in the NCC camp being held at the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing (IIITDM) campus on Dumna Road.

Following complaints of illness, the students were shifted to the district hospital late in the evening as a precautionary measure.

Doctors attending to the cadets said the condition of all students is currently stable and under control. Preliminary findings suggest that the illness may have been caused either due to heatwave conditions or suspected food poisoning.

City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Sonu Kurmi said all the cadets were out of danger and undergoing treatment.

“The children attending the NCC camp may have been affected due to food poisoning or heat-related illness. All are safe and receiving treatment,” he said.

Jabalpur Collector Raghvendra Singh reviewed the situation after being informed about the incident and instructed health officials to ensure proper medical care for the cadets. He also held discussions with Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr Naveen Kothari regarding the matter.

Hospital authorities stated that all affected cadets continue to remain under medical observation as a precaution.
