Mopa, May 22: A 65-year-old man lost his life after being run over by a container truck while on a morning walk along National Highway-66 at Patradevi.
The deceased has been identified as Narayan Sahadev Sawal.
According to police, the container truck allegedly knocked down and crushed the victim before the driver fled the scene along with the vehicle immediately after the accident.
Following the incident, Mopa Police launched a search operation and later traced the absconding driver to Lanja in Maharashtra’s Ratnagiri district.
Police said the driver was subsequently apprehended and brought into custody for further investigation.
A case has been registered and further inquiry is underway.
