Karkala, May 30: The inaugural programme for the first PUC science stream at Christ King Pre-University College, Karkala, was held at the institution's auditorium with enthusiasm and participation from students, parents, and faculty members.
The programme was inaugurated by Fr Clement Mascarenhas, parish priest of Christ King Church, Karkala, by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Addressing the gathering, he emphasized the importance of perseverance and hard work in achieving one's dreams. He urged students to remain compassionate and humane rather than becoming "emotionless robots" and to foster harmony and coexistence in society.


Retired headmaster of Jain High School, Moodbidri, and noted scholar Muniraj Renjala attended as the chief guest. In his address, he stressed that parents should prioritize providing quality education to their children rather than accumulating wealth or property in their names. He also highlighted the importance of parental love, guidance, and involving children in household responsibilities, encouraging students to become educated, responsible citizens who care for their parents and lead successful lives.
Presiding over the function, Dr Peter Fernandes, member of the Christ King Education Trust, said that the institution is committed to providing quality education without discrimination based on caste, religion, or social status. He noted that self-discipline and self-control are essential qualities for achieving success in life.
College principal Lakshmi Narayan Kamath briefed the gathering about the institution's activities and achievements. Physics lecturer Dr Ananth Pai provided students with information on various competitive examinations and career opportunities.
Vice principal Dr Prakash Bhat, high school headmistress Josna Snehalatha, Primary School headmaster Christopher Kotian, and other dignitaries were present on the dais.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by mathematics lecturer Bharathi Nayak. Kannada lecturer Umesh Bellippadi compered the event and delivered the vote of thanks.
