Mangaluru: 6 Karnataka Air Squadron NCC commences annual training camp at SJEC

Mangaluru, Jun 3: The Annual Training Camp (ATC) of National Cadet Corps (NCC) organized by 6 Karnataka Air Squadron NCC commenced on June 3 at St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor with enthusiastic participation from NCC cadets representing various educational institutions of Dakshina Kannada and Kodagu districts.

The 10-day camp is aimed at imparting structured military training and fostering qualities of discipline, leadership, patriotism, camaraderie, and national integration among the cadets. The camp brings together senior division/senior wing and junior division/junior wing cadets under one platform to experience the spirit of military life and collective learning.

The training programme includes drill, physical training, yoga, weapon training, aero-modelling and aviation-related subjects such as principles of flight, navigation, meteorology, aircraft familiarisation, and airmanship. Cadets will also participate in firing practice, adventure-based activities, cultural programmes, sports competitions, and social service initiatives.

Special lectures by distinguished speakers from the armed forces, civil administration, disaster management agencies, medical fraternity, and other professional fields are scheduled during the camp to broaden the cadets’ knowledge and personality development.

Addressing the cadets during the inauguration, the camp commandant emphasized the importance of discipline, teamwork, self-confidence, and leadership in shaping responsible citizens and future leaders of the nation. Cadets were encouraged to make optimum use of the training opportunities and imbibe the core values of the NCC.

The camp is being conducted with active support from the staff of 6 Karnataka Air Squadron NCC, associate NCC officers of participating institutions, and the management of St Joseph Engineering College.

The annual training camp is expected to provide a transformative experience to the cadets by instilling military ethos, improving physical fitness, and enhancing overall personality development in line with the aims and objectives of the NCC.
